As you may have noticed there are not many options out there for you to learn how to do a title search on a parcel of property. We have been conducting title searches since 1980 and we know that you will need a professional to walk you through each step of the process.
Learn from the people that are in the business not just out to sell you a book and hope you figure it out. Mistake #1. You ARE NOT going to learn this from a book or brochure. Period!
One of the best ways to learn is to work for a title company and have their Title Abstractor's train you. The alternative is to make friends with a real estate Attorney or Title Abstractor in the deed record room and have them train you. Both of these options are very difficult if not impossible to do.
Most title companies do not want to hire you unless you have experience. So how do you get experience if no one will train you? Most Abstractors do not want to train potential competitors (YOU) as they know they could lose their business to you when you start your own company.
So do not plan on getting trained by anyone in the deed record room. You will be lucky to get a question answered. Most Title Abstractor's have helped train someone in the past and they end up leaving and going out on their own and taking the customers with them. This has hurt them iin the past so therefore they cannot afford to have this happen again. To eliminate this from happening most Abstractor's refuse to train anyone. So don't be upset when you cannot get any assistance in the record room.
